Plant Description
Legacy are great Blueberry Plants for Northern and Central States. These can be planted from zone 5-8 with 700-1000 plus chill hours. Legacy is a USDA variety from the New Jersey research center and is considered one of the best tasting Northern Highbush Blueberries. These are large, super sweet blueberries that have a crimson color leaf in the fall. These are full size vigourous blueberry plants that can get over 6 ft tall. These are good variety for organic gardening since they are mostly disease resistant.
How to Grow
Most edible plants grow well in Full Sun but a little shade won’t hurt. Blueberry Plants need to be planted in acidic soil/low pH 5.5-6.4. I recommend 60%-80% Pine Mulch/20-40% Peat. As your plant gets bigger you can change the ratio to more Pine Mulch up to 100%. I substitute Peat with Happy Frog Potting Soil. Keep your soil moist and when it is about dried out water again. It may be better to grow your plants in 4 inch to 1 gallon containers for several months until plants are larger before repotting or planting. I recommend an organic regiment with life beneficials, fertilizer, organic fungicide and pest control.
