Plant Description
Top Hat is the perfect Dwarf Blueberry Plant for container growing. The plant is self-fertile and maintains a perfect bush like shape that doesn't require pruning after. Just 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall, these little beauties have a lovely, compact mounded shape that is loaded with white blossoms in the spring and red foliage in the fall. This little plant is a big producer that gives you hundreds of firm, flavorful dusky blue fruits with a wild blueberry flavor. Top Hat requires 400-800 hours for zones 4-8.
How to Grow
Most edible plants grow well in Full Sun but a little shade won’t hurt. Blueberry Plants need to be planted in acidic soil/low pH 5.5-6.4. I recommend 60%-80% Pine Mulch/20-40% Peat. As your plant gets bigger you can change the ratio to more Pine Mulch up to 100%. I substitute Peat with Happy Frog Potting Soil. Keep your soil moist and when it is about dried out water again. It may be better to grow your plants in 4 inch to 1 gallon containers for several months until plants are larger before repotting or planting. I recommend an organic regiment with life beneficials, fertilizer, organic fungicide and pest control.
